Our Vision for you: We are committed to ensuring all business components work in unison to produce an overall success story.
Our founder and CEO, Ahmad Zaabri, grew up in Abu Dhabi as part of a family that relished hospitality, especially in the food industry.
His family was responsible for the introduction of world famous global brands to the UAE, such as Burger King, Coca-Cola and Domino’s Pizza. It also launched some of the UAE’s most acclaimed food outlets, including the much-loved French bakery, ‘La Brioche’, which is famous across the nation for its classic French cuisine. It is thanks to this family history and an early exposure to providing a quality service that Ahmad has succeeded in creating strategic partnerships with leading international retail companies.
Today, Ahmad is a successful entrepreneur, founding Almed Retail in 2015 which provides a quality platform for his retail investments. Having spent 15 years working across diverse sectors with a focus on the client side, Ahmad and Almed’s ventures have contributed to the UAE’s retail environment from both social and cultural contexts. This began with the company opening its first venture with Reebok CrossFit GoldBox in different locations across the UAE, with plans to expand their footprint even further in the future. Recognized for his business achievements, Ahmad understands the commitment necessary to make a brand and partnership succeed.
Our pedigree goes back for more than four decades, incorporating such milestones as the introduction of Burger King, Coco-Cola, Domino’s Pizza, La Brioche and Sketchley to the UAE
We first started operations in 1973 with the establishment of Universal Trading, one of the first licensed trading companies to open in the UAE. It operated brands including AEG Household Appliances, Europcar car rental and Renault vehicles.
Names launched in the UAE during the 1980s, 90s and the new millennium included Burger King, Domino’s Pizza and El Torito Restaurant and La Cantina bar. An important milestone was the establishment of the first Gulf Coca-Cola bottling plant in Al Ain in 1990.
Milestones in our history
Team spirit and the sharing of knowledge and intelligence are defining characteristics in Almed Retail’s success. Our high-achieving people work together to ensure their wisdom is shared with our business partners.
